  • Capacity-building for strengthening creative capacities in developing countries is a key component of the Puppet Planet Project.
  
  • With a view to assist countries on their development strategies, and with the aim to emphasize its environmental, educational and cultural messages, the project proposes a capacity-building training course for young creative talents for the creation of local versions of the show at country level.
  
  • The aim is not only to share knowledge, encourage creativity and best practices, but also to promote job opportunities for the youth, creative entrepreneurship and climate literacy.
  
  • Training courses will be proposed for the preparation of a local version of the animation show mixing traditional puppet theatre techniques with modern ICT tools and new media technologies. Capacity-building with flexible modules will cover several aspects of the creative industries: puppetry, video animation, theatrical music, writing and photography. 
  
  • In this way, the capacity-building activities will be attractive not only for young puppeteers but also for artists and technicians interested in working with lightening, sounds, script as well as young artists involved with music and photography or skilled and interested in producing video-clips and new-media products.
  
  • The Puppet Planet show has been created and will be performed by a master actor-puppeteer with a renowned experience not only as an international puppeteer, but also by conducting capacity-building and vocational training for artists.
  
  • WMO and UNCTAD have been contacting potential donors from governments and relevant institutions seeking for funds to help the implementation of the project in developing countries, particularly in Africa.
